Anchovy Crostini Dip

Ingredients:

  • 12 slices white bread
  • 1 ounce olive oil
  • 2 ounces butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 5 ounces mushrooms, finely diced
  • 3 teaspoons anchovy paste
  • 1 can rolled anchovy fillets
  • 9 stuffed olives
  • 1/3 red pepper
  • salt and pepper for seasoning

Method to Prepare:

  • First cut 2" circles from the bread. Equally, apply olive oil on both sides of the bread. Now place the bread on a cookie sheet and bake it in the oven for 10 minutes or until it is golden brown. 
  • Take butter in a fry pan and melt it. Add flour in the butter and mix well for 1 minute.
  • Next, add milk and blend over moderate heat until it starts boiling. After it gets thickened, remove the pan from flame. Add 3 tbsp parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and mushrooms in the mixture and blend well.
  • Mix anchovy paste and stir well. The mixture might look a bit loose but it will bake perfectly.
  • Spread 2 teaspoon of this mixture on each toast and generously add with the extra parmesan cheese. Take the sliced olive , place them on the bread and place the rolled anchovy on it and red pepper.
  • Bake the bread in oven (420F degrees) for 12 minutes or until they are brown on top. Serve the bread hot with pasta or macaroni.

Yummy Yummy Spaghetti Anchovy

In ancient times , it was fried and sugared with honey, or tossed with fish paste by the ancient Romans. Not only that, but also this pasta meal is very easy to cook. Spaghetti Anchovy Recipe


Serves: Two
Preparation time: 15 minutes


Ingredients: 

  • 2205g or 7oz of spaghetti
  • 150g or 5oz fresh tuna fillets or tinned tuna flakes or chunks
  • 4 fresh anchovies
  • 2 clove of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of capers
  • 500g of chopped tomatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Extra olive oil

Equipment: Large pasta pan or Frying pan

  • First take frying pan and place it on a medium heat. Add olive oil into it. Cut the ends off the garlic, peel it, chop it into quarters, and add in to the pan.
  • Fry these garlic chunks, until the garlic becomes light brown. Add 4 anchovy’s fish into the same frying pan and fry for 3 to 5 minutes until they soften and turn into paste. After this, add the rinsed capers and the tuna fillets into the pan. If you have white wine at your place, you can add quarter of a glass in the paste.
  • Now, simmer the flame for 8 minutes; gradually break the tuna fillets into smaller chunks with a spoon or fork. After 8 minutes  , take the pan off the flame
  • Next step is to take a large pan. Place it on the heat and fill it with water.Allow the water to boil. Then add the spaghetti into the boiling water
  • While the spaghetti is boiling, shift the frying pan back onto a medium flame and add the chopped tomatoes into the pan
  • Fry and mix the whole sauce mixture for about 5 minutes or more. When the pasta is cooked, drain the water and add it into the frying pan containing tuna fillets and anchovy fish.
  • Finally mix and blend it for a minute, then serve hot.

Anchovy Dip

Anchovy Dip


Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoon of mustard
  • 3 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of dried dill weed
  • 3 grind of freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 ounces anchovy fillets, drained and finely chopped
  • Vegetables required for dipping, such as carrots, snow pea pods, mushrooms broccoli flowerets, celery, jicama sticks, etc.


Preparation Method:
·               Add mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, dill weed, onion powder, and pepper in a bowl and blend it very well until they become smooth.
·               Add the minced and chopped anchovies in the mixture. Cover the bowl and refrigerate it for 2 hours. Anchovy dip is ready to eat.
·               Taste best when served with vegetable dippers, crackers, or toasted baguette slices.

Ingredients

  • 3 garlic cloves crushed
  • 6 flat anchovy fillets
  • ¾ cup of olive oil

  • 14 slices of Italian or French bread, slice them into 1/2-inch thick


Anchovy Garlic Bread Preparation:

  • First, preheat the broiler, then mash garlic and anchovies in small bowl using a fork, blend in olive oil, and pepper into the bowl.
  • Evenly brush the tops of bread slices with anchovy-oil mixture and place them on a baking sheet for 2 to 3 minutes, or until slightly browned.

Anchovy Bread Recipe
Ingredients:

  • 1 package of dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon finely crushed garlic
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Romano cheese
  • 6 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tin anchovy fillets packed in olive oil


Directions:

  • Take small bowl, and mix the yeast and sugar with the warm water and let it stand until foamy for about 5 to 15 minutes.
  • Now take a large bowl, mix the salt, garlic, oregano, red pepper, and 2 cups of the flour along with the yeast mixture and beat to mix well. Add 1 cup of the remaining flour and mix the mixture with your hands to make it smooth.
  • Add both the cheeses in the mixture and blend it well. Add the left over flour in 1/2 cup increments, and mix with your hands to form manageable dough and it should be slightly wet but yet dry enough that it does not stick to your fingers. Mix until it gets smooth, for about 5 minutes.
  • Brush or spread the olive oil in a large, clean bowl. Place the mixture in the bowl, so that it gets coated and does not stick in the bowl. Now cover the mixture with plastic wrap or you can also use a damp clean kitchen towel and set it aside to rise in a warm, for about 1 hour.
  • After 1 hour, punch the dough down and divide into 2 equal portions. Now shape each portion into a round loaf and carefully place them on a greased baking sheet.
  • Thickly chop half of the anchovies. Then with the help of your finger, poke them into an equal number of 1-inch deep holes into each loaf and add some of the chopped anchovies inside every hole. Add in each loaf with 1 tablespoon of the olive oil. Cover the loaves freely with plastic wrap and set them aside in a warm place, for about 1 hour.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Divide the left over whole anchovy fillets between the tops of the 2 loaves in a decorative way and apply each loaf with half of the remaining olive oil.
  • You need to bake for 30 to 50 minutes, or until the loaves become golden brown or becomes hollow when they are tapped. Finally, the Anchovy Bread is ready to serve

Quick Recipe of Anchovy Pasta


Anchovy Pasta


Preparation time: 10 minutes
Serves: 2 people


Ingredients:

  • 2 small jar of anchovies
  • 2 garlic clove crushed or chopped
  • 2 small onions finely chopped
  • Fresh black pepper
  • 155gcan tomato paste
  • 1 red chilly chopped

Preparation Method:
  • Deep-fry onion, chilli and garlic in olive oil for 3 minutes until onions becomes crispy
  • Add tomato paste and mix it in pan for 2 minutes
  • Add drained jar of anchovies, crush them up, and mix the sauce in it. It will become a thick sauce.
  • Toss them in cooked pasta
  • Serve with some crusty garlic bread with green salad

Pizza-Napoletana


   Pizza with Tomato, Mozzarella, and Anchovies 



 Ingredients:
  • 2 cup tomato paste
  • 4 to 5 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper according to taste
  • 5 to 6 anchovy fillets
  • 3 oz fresh sliced mozzarella cheese

Method to prepare:
  • Preheat oven to 510 F
  • Take a bowl, add tomato paste in it with, 2 tablespoon of the olive oil, salt, and pepper according to your taste and blend it very well. Evenly spread the mixture above the pizza.
  • Now spreads the left over olive oil on the pizza add pepper and evenly distribute the anchovies on the pizza as toppings.
  • Bake the pizza for approximately 12 minutes. Now take out the pizza base from the oven and add the mozzarella cheese over the pizza.
  • Again bake for approximately 12 more minutes .Carefully lift one side to check whether its cooked or not. Pizza will be ready when the base surface is light brown. Pizza will taste luscious when served hot.

Anchovery pizza recipe:
Pizza with mozzarella, anchovies, chilly, capers and parsley


Ingredients
• 5 anchovy fillets
• 1 fresh red chilly, sliced
• 1 heaped teaspoon small capers
• Olive oil and 1 lemon
• 5 tablespoons tomato sauce
• 100g mozzarella
• 2 tablespoon finely chopped fresh leafy parsley
• Salt to taste and freshly grounded black pepper

Preparation:
  • First, cut the anchovy fillets in half lengthways.Then take a bowl,  and add anchovy pieces along with the sliced chilly according to your taste.
  • Take a separate bowl and add capers, a few tablespoons of olive oil and the lemon to relish. Pinch over a little lemon juice as well and blend up.
  • Now, let the anchovies settle in the marinade mixture for 20 minutes. Spread the tomato sauce equally over the pizza base and evenly spread pieces of mozzarella over the top.
  • Uniformly lay over the anchovy fillets, and spread the capers and chilly. Next sprinkle few parsley and seasoning according to your taste .
  • Finally, sprinkle the leftover marinating oil and bake until it becomes crispy and golden

Tip:
Make sure you get hold of superior quality tinned anchovies for this; or else it's not worth making.
